Hi. My name is John Fennell and I live in the UK with my lovely wife and our two wonderful sons. Since I was a boy, I have always liked reading exciting adventure stories. I particularly love those stories where the main characters end up in situations where you wonder how on earth they are ever going to get out alive. So when I started writing my own books, I very quickly decided that I would try to write exactly those kind of stories.
The idea for The Boy in the Mirror came about when I was looking into a mirror one day and began wondering if, instead of a reflection, it was actually a different world in there. What would it be like? And would everything be the same, or would there be subtle differences compared to our world? And then of course, being English, I’m obsessed with the weather and climate change, so I had to have some violent thunderstorms and tornadoes in there as well.
Two of my main loves have always been sci-fi and ancient history, particularly Ancient Rome, which I have loved reading about ever since I read the classic Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff. So for my latest series of books, The Roman Time Machine, I have decided to combine the two. The first four books are out now.
I really hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them.
